What information do we collect and how do we use it?
We collect information that you voluntarily supply to us online when using the site. This includes, but is not limited to: when you register on our site, place an order, subscribe to our newsletter, send us an email, respond to a survey or fill out a form.
The type of information that we collect when you sign up for our newsletter is generally your name and email address. When ordering a product you will be asked to enter your name, postal address, e-mail address and/or credit card information. All of this information is provided directly by you.
We typically only contact individuals who specifically request that we do so or who have signed up for our newsletters or purchased one of our products.
Like most websites, we also collect and store information that is generated automatically as you use our website (including the use of cookies and web beacons). Cookies are small files that (if you allow) your web browser transfers to your computer’s hard drive for record-keeping purposes. These cookies enable us to understand how and when visitors use our site so we can identify how many unique users visit us and track site traffic, user trends, and patterns. This type of information is usually used to make your experience more enjoyable. For example, we may collect information about your computer’s connection to the internet which allows us to measure traffic and thus improve the speed of delivery of our web pages to you.
This kind of information also helps us remember and process the items in your shopping cart, understand and save your preferences for future visits, gather general visitor information, and keep track of advertisements so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future.
Any of the information we collect from you may be used in the following ways:
- To customize features and personalize your experience
- To improve our website and offerings (we’re always trying to create the very best products and services for you!)
- To improve customer service and provide excellent support
- To process transactions
- To send periodic emails – The email address you provide for order processing may be used to send you information, updates, or other important company news. Note: We always include easy unsubscribe instructions in all of our emails should you wish to stop receiving them.
We may also contract with third-party service providers for a variety of reasons. Unless you inform us otherwise (specifically through the process described below) we reserve the right to use, and to disclose to third parties, all of the information collected from and about you while you are using the site in any way and for any purpose. This may enable us or a third party to provide you with information about products and services. If you do not want your information to be used for these purposes you must send a letter to the Online Privacy Coordinator, whose address is listed at the end of this Privacy Policy, requesting to be taken off any lists of information that may be used for these purposes or that may be given or sold to third parties.
Please keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily make your personal information available for viewing by third parties online (for example on message boards, through email, or in chat or comment areas) that information can be seen, collected, and used by other parties besides us. We are not responsible for any unauthorized third-party use of such information.
Our site may also include links to other websites or provide access to products and services offered by third parties, whose privacy policies we can’t control. This also includes some content, products, and services available through special partner relationships with third parties who include their branding on our site. We may share with these partners information collected or provided by you in the course of visiting that information and/or those pages. When you access another website or purchase third-party products or services through this site, the use of any information you provide will be governed by the privacy policy of the operator of the site you are visiting or the provider of the services you are purchasing.
Also know that we may release information about our visitors when it is appropriate to comply with the law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users of our site or the public. In addition, as our business grows we may buy or sell various assets. In the unlikely event that we sell some or all of our assets, or one or more of our websites is acquired by another company, information about our users may be among the transferred assets.
Â
How do we store your information?Â
Your membership information is stored on a secure list server and all passwords are encrypted on the database. To maintain the safety of your personal information, the server and the information contained therein can only be accessed by people who help manage our lists in order to deliver information to those who would like to receive it. Information necessary for the delivery of our newsletters is also stored at Mailchimp.com for delivery purposes and can only be accessed by those who help publish and deliver thefamilydog.com or stopthe77.com newsletters.
At this time we do not store any credit card information on our servers. All payment transactions are handled by third-party processors such as PayPal and all of your information is protected through their security systems.
